Seamless loop of beautiful, enveloping rain.
Adapted from a recording made by user igsmrlmmu, uploaded as "94.flac". All expertise is theirs. I really liked the sound; the distinctive slap of fat rain drops on the leaves creates a more dynamic and dimensional feel than the straight hush of some rain recordings.
For people like myself who like to play this kind of material as a peaceful background loop to accompany work or rest, I made some changes. First, I edited out the most identifiable or conspicuous moments — trains, planes, the odd rain splat too close to the mic — which become wearisome in any sound that is looped for long periods. You can't reach zen if every ten minutes you're going, "here comes that train again!" Critical listening still yields the occasional mild groan and sigh of far-off vehicles, soft and distant. I also blended the ends so that, when the sound is set to repeat on your player, there is no gap or jarring change in timbre. It just goes and goes.
For practical reasons, I made some technical changes, too, including a clumsy mixdown from six-channel surround (!) to two-channel stereo so that ordinary software and devices can play the file without complaint.

I think from now on I will refer people to this version instead of the original.
There's nothing as flattering as someone taking your work and making it better :D

OMG DUDE! I can't wait to listen to this, downloading right now.. I never took the time to edit as you described and I'm quite excited to hear how it turned out. I'm guessing by the "odd rain splat" that you're refering to the begining where I accidentally stepped on a few twigs while walking away.
For the past 5 years since I uploaded the track, I've been listening to it every few weeks at least, often many times more to fall asleep, and I can tell you, i've definately got tired of hearing "that train again" LMAO :)
I'm glad that someone else liked it enough to take to time to make it better. kudos!
