Great baseline. I plan on dropping to around 88bpm and using closed high-hat with reverb and a clap or muted snare minimally.
I'm definitely interested in keeping Hip-Hop as it's always sounded until this Trap crap came around. Creativity is fading in that direction and it's a dad thing. For both the Best Makers and especially the lyricists. Mumble Rap is an appropriate name- whoever coined the phrase hit the nail on the head. Made up or constantly repeating yourself is not talent. It's Crap, not Trap.
So I'm going in the opposite direction and instead of the galloping (drowning) high-hat, I'm keeping it very minimal and making beats with better base-lines and kicks. Some old school piano riffs or woodwinds to break up the tempo.
