Basimilus Iteritas

There is a new rack extension instrument for Reason 10 called 'Basimilus Iteritas' by Noise Engineering.
This is essentially a modular-inspired synth dedicated mostly to synth drum sounds (although it can do other things).

The design and setup is unusual.
Instead of the usual controls for oscillator (e.g. wave shape, noise,...) and filter (cutoff and frequency) you find that the oscillator is some kind of virtual circuit model with different and unusual controls for timbre : morph (not too unusual, controls the change of wave-shape continuously between a few shape options) harmonics, harmonic spread, fold (a specific kind of wave-shaper).
You will also find that there is no filter.
And there are 2 envelope controls attack and decay, which will do more than you expect as they affect the timbre also in addition to the sound volume.

Of course, at the back you can plug in CV signals to control all of these parameters. - As is common with most Reason devices.

I decided to experiment and use an Aligator device (which is a triple gated filter effect, really), and make use of the sequenced gate CV outputs to trigger 3 Basilimus Iteritas modules. I also used the LFO CV from Aligator to change one of the sound parameters in one of the Basilimus modules.

The result was this very hard-dance drum-loop at 120bpm.
