Large river rapids running strongly after winter rain. Recorded approximately fifty feet above water level. The river flows and turns through a narrow, high, partly exposed bedrock canyon which likely amplifies the sound of the rapids. The first nine seconds are unedited. The last two seconds have a fade out applied.
In summer you can walk where the centre channel is in winter, so this is a lot of water moving swiftly down the Cowichan River to the Salish Sea. Also see the companion audio posting "river-canyon-waters-edge-bottom-step.wav" taken below the height of this recording.
