I'm using the sound as a single hit percussion accent in a song,
most of the "crack" sounds aren't tight and loud enough...
[ BTW what about a clack rather than a crack ... http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=82364 ]
TimbreIt is possible to make any of the Freesound cracks louder and shorter to suit any requirements.

that is very true but, the sample wont be full of small details that tells your ear that the sound is a huge branch snapping in half in one explosive blast of sound.
the quality of the clacking isn't very good.
hmmmmm...

As I synthesised the clacking sound, (rather than recorded it), it is technically very good : with high signal to noise ratio, (unlike many of the noisy offerings on Freesound).
My simulated clackers may not suit your purposes, but they are technically very good.
Despite your derogatory remarks about my clackers I have just uploaded some cracks ...

[NB on Freesound previews creaky sounds are particularly afflicted by artifacts e.g. ,
i.e. my cracks sound better when downloaded than in the preview).
