hi there
I'm looking for a sample that I hear all the time on TV (usually in medical detectives series, but also any documentary that explores subversive / supernatural / evil / ghosts / murder themes etc
What does it sound like?
its a long continuous drawn out sound that slowly changes
perhaps it is a slowed down sound such as scraping a Piano string or something like that?
a bit like a door creeking open, but not so Cliche 'spooky'
it sounds metallic - a bit like when a metal saw cuts into metal (only not so harsh)!
Please help
Its been bugging me so many years now!
cheers
Frank
I found this - which is VERY VERY close - but not the Excat one i'm after!!
Try this.

Why not camp out for a couple of nights in a graveyard, I'm sure you'll hear something there! :¬D
Hey all - i have found the sample in a clip of The Cube on UK ITV1.
(at 34 seconds after Philip Schofield says 'Go when you're ready!")

It's similar to a "reversed cymbal" ... http://www.freesound.org/search/?q=reversed+cymbal
Something like that, but I am not shure now. Went through all Prodigy`s albums, and think I heard the glimpse of that sound in Breath

Now I am lost.
After hearing your Cube sound, I knew what it was. It's a movie tension builder.
Here's one on Freesound

Hope that helps. Pete.
PS, during my search, I also found out that you can download the entire BBC sound effects library for $4000 !!! :¬D
That should do the trick. Let us know if you find what you were looking for. I hope you are using Audacity to make and manipulate your sound files, it's excellent.
@FrankMac; this is best I can produce.
I hope you like it.
