Most of you should be already be familiar with that eerie screaming/alarm sound in the Prometheus trailers. I want to make a parody on Prometheus and would prefer it if I used original not-ripped-from-Hollywood sounds. This is more about identifying the elements that make up the screaming/alarm sound than it is a request, but if someone can recreate it, I will eternally grateful.
It sounds human, but somehow not.
I gave it a "quick" and dirty try:
http://www.freesound.org/people/copyc4t/sounds/157938/
The ingredients are the sampler petri-foo, Audacity, Virtual MIDI Keyboard for pitch wheeling, an effect from the software synthesizer Yoshimi, surprisingly close to the scream as it even starts with a boom (too light by itself), synth strings from Yoshimi to reinforce the scream, and then these:
For the initial boom boost,
98946__tomlija__metal-door-close.wav
118712__estlacksensory__estlack-doorslam-rvrb-3shrt.aif
For the sort of pneumatic sound pitching down right after the boom,
66364__reinsamba__1243-pressure-cooker.wav
For both the low continuous drone and the mid one that pitches up,
52134__dj-chronos__horror-drone-001.wav
You're welcome, it was fun to try
