    Dare 44 - Happy birthday !

One of our friends, toiletrolltube, had a birthday recently.

He is an amazing contributor to the Freesound database, not just in number but in quality of his sounds. - a real genius when it comes to sound design.
And very generous with the licensing of his sounds.
He is also quite a character.

Take one of his sounds (or more) and use it/them to create a piece. You can use whatever other elements you like, but make toiletroll's sound(s) the central element(s) of your piece.

If your work is a collage, remix, etc you can upload it here at Freesound.
If it is a musical piece, please upload to a suitable place (Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc).
In any case, post here with your happy birthday wishes and a link to your piece.

    Link to toiletrolltube's page:

    Congrats toiletrolltube!
To celebrate you I used sounds from last year that has not been that popular. But I usually like sounds many “dislike” (or just haven’t found yet). One of the sounds matches your freesound user id… a little…

Wow, I'm speechless, and quite lost for words. Loved to hear your choices and I enjoyed what you've done. I'm the same in a sense, gis_sweden, I like the more obscure, less popular sounds. Although, I haven't been much of a downloader recently.

Getting older for me is a strange mix of feeling jaded and ambivalence and not really old at all. Lets face it, 40 something isn't really that old. If the liver is a forgiving organ, then mine is Jesus fucking Christ. I watched some sad BBC doc about some guy who only drank two cans per evening, every evening and a bottle of wine at the weekends and was totally fucked in his forties. I guess I'm lucky, or that hepatitis/jaundice I contracted as an eleven year old made it stronger. But if I die in my sleep, aminspace (mother of my daugther) will let you all know. Funny, you're the only people I even want to inform. You all mean more to me than my own family, (excluding my daughter of course, who I love more than anyone).

Oh god, I'm talking shit again, I've got to start writing on my blog again when moments like this arise. Hello world; I'm an idiot.

Again, sorry to make this about me, but it's your god damn fault Alien smile You know I'm joking.

    Love to all.

A belated happy birthday to you!
A good opportunity to say thank you for the wonderful sounds you share, the inspiration and the LoLs.

It was easy to be inspired by your weird and wonderful sounds to put this musical collage together.

I have to say that many of your sounds have some of the craziest wave shapes I've ever seen smile

To Lucky, joking of course, I haven't thrown up in years. And I'm really enjoying this (guilty pleasure).

Oh god Jeff. I tried to comment on your blog, but as usual Google won't let me, I must have done something bad at some point. That's the reason I always copy. Here's what I wrote: That is so beautiful Jeff, and I'm so humbled by yours and all other's participation in this dare. So much so that my mind doesn't know whether to explode or implode. Lots of love to you and all, your existences (edit), gives life meaning. No, I'm not 4, more like 11 smile

To Alien, this is a good idea. How about other members birthday dares? I would like to take part in a dare like this. If anyone is willing to announce, yourself included.

I couldn't figure out why the last paragraph of my post didn't show. It seems that the freesound forum doesn't like "angle bracket" prefixed to "edit". Anyway, just some nonsense.

Oh, and I fixed my "that"'s.

    Hi TRT
Probably one of the best dares ever. - Because it is a lot more than just throwing some sonic nonsense together and calling it a music piece.
I guess there is a feeling of "Hey, I want to do this!" - not because someone told me to, or because I am curious about what the result will be, but because I really want to do it.

I will participate too, of course. But have not managed more than a few minutes of computer time each day (for non-work purposes) for weeks. So really limited to answering emails...
As soon as I get an opportunity in the next few days I am putting something nice together.

As for others who may find this a suitable celebration of their birthday - ping me a IM. I am more likely to see that than a post in the forums...

I guess my 5 minutes of computer time are gone!...
    Bye for now!

    I want to believe.

Alien, you've done enough already. Your contribution to freesound (and the dares) is above and beyond the... (I can't recall the phrase, but you know what I mean). I know you have a very busy life, please don't feel obligated. Honestly, I don't wish to dictate the path and flow of a dare, but in this case I'm humbled beyond belief.

Like you say, I hope the pings come in and I will gladly take part in anohter freesounder's birthday dare.

    Love,

Call of Duty? - isn't that a game? LOL

Nah... there really isn't a lot of effort involved in running the dares. Especially since we stopped doing a vote afterwards... and that was ages ago!

I really want to do this. So, of course I will participate. Just hope my creation will be worthy of the purpose.

Maybe this is even the start of a new era for the dares, where we celebrate the core-group of Freesounders...
Who knows. Lets just go with the flow. Lets see if the next birthday boy or girl comes forward.

    I want to believe.

    Happy Birthday!

    Here is my ditty.

I plan on maybe posting a pack of samples that I used for this just a bit in the future. I had a lot of fun with it.
