Recording of some sort of wood (probably thin plywood or cottonwood) being broken or pulled apart. Short enough to give a quick crescendo, it is still more of a tear than a snap. This sort of recording often provides good layering when slowed down. Was originally recorded for smashing sound effects for a radio theater play. Cannot remember the mic used, perhaps SM-58, or a small diaphragm condenser; but it probably went through a Sytek pre into a Gadget Labs Wav824 interface.
