A totally synthetic explosion sound that could be the firing of a large gun instead of a bomb exploding. Unlike the lower-numbers in this series, this is the first to purposely use a low-frequency hump just after the initial impulse begins, which upon simulating the over-driving of a microphone (via distortion) results in a relative drop in the high frequency content for a tenth of a second or so. This in turn creates a sound much more familiar to our ears, as it sounds more like how explosions tend to sound in all the old movies. This one is relatively short compared to its predecessors, but still has enough ambiance following it that you can shape the envelope to suit your needs (making it sound nearer or farther). As it sits, it could very well be a shell exploding or being fired (by artillery or a tank, or whatever you want). All in all, a nice variation on the theme so far. Like the others in this series, this sound is totally synthetic, created within Cool Edit Pro (the ancestor of modern-day Adobe Audition).

Hi Zimbot, thanks for the compliment. I did do it all myself. My friends say I have too much time on my hands - if only I that was true!

Thanks for the follow-up, KeyKrusher! Nice work -- I'm glad I got to play a miniscule role in it (passively, insignificantly :-). Did you manage all the video compositing yourself as well? Very talented guy!

Found another use for it on my latest mad music video - this time featuring my exploding head sequence. I think I layered it and changed the pitch. I can't remember now:

So thanks again!
