A rather poor synthetic bomb blast at a distance. I think it sounds a bit more like someone striking the sheet metal of a forced air furnace, but you might find a use for such a sound, even if it doesn't quite work for what I was intending. You might also use it as an IR for convolution. Created in Cool Edit Pro. OK, let me be honest here, I personally hate this sound. It seems more like someone hitting a gong than an explosion. Thus I've added "gong" as a tag. Hey, someone will ultimately find the perfect use for this, even if it has nothing to do with explosions. If you want explosion sounds, listen instead to the others in this pack that are much, much better: they are named ExplosionBombBlastAmbient<N>.wav (where <N> is anything from empty string up to the highest number uploaded so far).

I'm thinking of having this play in the opening scene where you wake up stuck in a test chamber.

heh heh, I think I would prefer something less gong-like for giant footsteps, such as http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=122120 or maybe http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=120956

Repeat the first half a few times, and you have impossibly gigantic footsteps!

Yes, it just takes a bit of imagination. :-) Thanks for commenting.

When I hear this sound I think of being on a submarine and something is trying to get in. In that context, it's pretty creepy and effective.
