Imagine the scene - you are in a space craft, cruising through space and you need to escape or get somewhere fast. You throw the engines into full thrust and go for 'warp speed' The next thing you know, you are sucked into a black hole or reach critical velocity and slip through the dimension portal. In fact - this is the sound of three vacuum cleaners, recorded in reverse audio at different speeds with the electronic sound sample from Freesound user: "72680__owyheesound__decelerate_discharge" added at the end with a bit of reverb and echo added. Simples, but effective. No?

Hi there,
This is the best best warp speed sound effect I managed to find. With your permission, I will use it in school project.
Thank you very much, keep doing the good work!

HDT01- that sounds great. Thanks for the message. No problem at all. Glad you like it. I upload all my sound files for others to enjoy. Credit goes to Reginald Merryweather. 😃

Love it. In fact I've gone through several places and found these generic sounding or otherwise too "Familiar" sounds that don't do justice to this kind of sound source. I'd like to use this one in a school project. I'll be all to happy to attribute this and do it in bold letters, telling people exactly where I found it and who made it. I know it's listed under attribution license, but I prefer to at least let you know, and see if you have anything against it. It'll be the warp engine sound for a still photo style short, and only for one or two slides where I apply an animated ship moving through space. It would pull away from some of the completely familiar and offer the same nostalgia; some aspects actually pay homage while others sort of go a new way. Exactly what I've been searching for, and it's been over a weeks work in the search. I'll download this one, but I hope you get back to me soon. I'd like to know for certain I'm not offending anybody and not being grubbish with their great work. I do have another clip, but it doesn't fit as well. If you say no, I'll have to go with it. But I'd really like to use this one.
