Aussa Nova/Insight Out
We’re a combination of two projects working together. Aussa Nova started in 2015 as an innovative “Aussie Bossa Nova” band project. Insight Out started in 2017 as an event concept, to share inspiring ideas, meditations, and music all together. We’re an Australian-Brazilian couple living in Myocum, NSW.
I’m Tristan - a songwriter, producer, photographer, teacher, writer. I first joined FreeSound.Org in June 2012 with a personal account. I make music with Ableton Live. I am indebted to the community for so many downloaded samples. Even our Insight Out LP contains FreeSound material.
In March 2022 we got engaged and combined our projects. Our work, our community and now our online accounts have conveniently united. Music and ideas and everything in between. Art, culture, love, nature, philosophy, healing, spirituality. An early Aussa Nova composition of mine is called “Lifestyle In Sound”.
I’m excited to join FreeSound finally as an active uploader. I’ve worked with ‘phonography’ since I was young, first with cassettes and radio boom boxes. Later I used Audacity and GarageBand, then Logic Pro. I’ve owned a few Zoom H1’s, however I mostly used my iPhones over the years.
I’ve written about the importance of accepting the value of iPhone phonography quality. In 2015 I was invited to an audio creatives conference in Denmark. I share some of my work here, with notes for contextual information.
I encourage others to consider the value of where they’ve had the chance to be, with ears, a mind, a heart, and a microphone, regardless of the perceived quality. FreeSound could be a place for phonographic storytelling, audio documentation, innovative art through sound.
I’ve now got a Zoom H6 with an SM57. I enjoy capturing natural field recording and creating dynamic sound pieces. Foley, ambience, conversation, expressive samples, found sounds - I am open to all free sounds
As a music producer, I have years of experience creating and discovering sounds. To manipulate and synthesise sounds is an art form I love and I’m happy to value add as part of this community. Please feel free to reach out if you wish to collaborate or commission a bespoke sound for your work.
FreeSound started in 2005 with the best intentions. It has since been maintained by a small team in Barcelona. A community of volunteers has enthusiastically populated the site. If you’re new around here, read https://freesound.org/help/about/ and start an account!
