My first attempt at a light saber! It's not really crackly or dynamic
enough, any suggestions would be appreciated as everyone needs a good
saber!
I created this by recording the hum from a TV tube. I then played it back through monitors and waved an old AKG 451 on a gooseneck around (pretending I actually had a light saber!) and re-recorded it into protools!

My 8 y.o. boy who is star wars and lego obsessed and he is making his first brickfilm (with mummy's help and equipment!). He wanted a light sabre noise for his sequence, and this is perfect for the action. Thankyou!

Genius.
I heard that the crackles in the original trilogy were achieved by whacking a long steel cable under tension - not sure if it's true but the basic sound is definitely there!
I haven't attempted my own saber yet until I decide on it's colour, but you can have a listen to some of our work over at http://www.novastarhunters.com
PS. You realise of course I'll be stealing this sound for use in episode two? Good. As long as we understand each other. :)
