These snare samples were created with a slightly unusual 12x8 snare drum owned by one of our young engineers. It's a very bright, resonant snare with a lot of crack and ring. There are three strikes of the drum and each has been captured with four mics; a Josephson e22S, a Shure SM57, a Beyer Dynamic M201 and an Audix D6, this last being primarily a kick drum mic and included more for fun than any aesthetic reason. The preamp in all cases was a Millennia Media HV-3D. Sources were captured to Pro Tools at 24bit/48KHz with final edits performed in Cool Edit Pro. As the same three snare strikes were captured in parallel by the four mics it'll be perfectly possible to mix the samples for even greater sonic diversity; I suggest using the first zero-cross as the point at which to match the phase.
