Solo cello improvisation, featuring a mute used as a mechanical distortion device.

Lots of sounds you won't find in the vienna symphonic library. Including my blocked up nose

Recorded in mono 24bit/48KHz using a close miked AKG C480B condenser microphone with CK61 (cardioid) capsule.

And also, Another name for a mute is a Con-Sordino or "Con-Sord" for short. And what's different about that device used is that the notes on the open strings sound different, but without the mute, the notes on the open strings sound normal.

    Very interesting.

    OUCH!! My Ears!!!

But however, Very Interesting and Strange.

What kind of Mechanical Distortion Device did you use?

Almost sounds like an electric Instrument that doesn't sound good. I'm just giving you an idea. I didn't say I didn't like it at all. Good Job!

Hey. Is it ok if I can please record some Violin Improvisations myself so you can check them out? I have already did one so far and added some special Effects. It hasn't been published yet, but it's still here in the Uploads Section.

Another excellent addition to freesound - to my mind the best "musical" sample I have heard on the site - it has a feeling of tension, discord, and strained beauty. I love it.
