this is a recording of part of the process for finishing a hand-blown glass drinking vessel. the glass is placed on a turntable, scored with a diamond bit, and then heated by a flame as it rotates.
the heat builds stress at the scored points and eventually the "cap" ("kappa" in swedish) cracks and springs off, leaving the glass ready for finishing.
the "tink" in the recording is the glass cap/kappa jumping off and then rattling as it continues to rotate on the turntable.
