Wow, thanks for that, yes it was just set to default (8) So I did it again changing it to 32 and you're right! Much cleaner looking and sounding (for a bunch of hideous noise anyway) and the clip itself is much shorter. interesting . . . :) I added the sound to this pack (menacingmachine1version2)

I suspect you have imported a 32 bit depth image as a 16 bit depth sound. - because all the black gaps if you look at the sound image as a spectrogram.
Try importing this image again as 32 bit depth sound, if you can. (and see how different it sounds. Are the gaps gone?)
