Near where I do many of my favorite nature recordings there are train tracks which can ocassionally be very busy -- and yes, sometimes they have interfered with some of my nature recordings.
BUT, recently I recorded the sound of the approaching train carrying loads of coal.
It was around dusk and breezy -- melancholy combination....
I really love the echo of the whistle....and as I listened I could not help but think about 100 years ago when trains were more common, amazing how things change.
Well, here it is.

This is just brilliant. Well captured. Perfect ambience offering feelings of loneliness, solitude, desolation, abandonment. In other words, just the right sfx for the background of a small, yet disturbing audio project. Appreciated.
