Left the village of Bokhoven, right the river Maas, in front the farmlands. On the picture you see the river.

It's cold at the riverside, just -4c. The 0-1 bft wind comes from every direction. First two church-bells ring. One in the village Bokhoven and one in Hedel on the other side of the river. Sparrows in the village quarrel. 300-500 m away a large group of geese making a lot of noise after a few minutes. Some ducks in the river. A craw and magpie. The river is in the right hand side on 200m. Tree cargo-ships (first after 15 minutes) go to there destination in Germany or Rotterdam or go inland to the city 's-Hertogenbosch. Hear the water splashing against the bow and from the shpis propellor. In Bokhoven the garbage-truck (after 18 minutes)is loading the dustbins in the street. In the distance (3 km) a train over a steel bridge crossing the river. Obviously a single high altitude plane.
Old snow carries the sound over the fields. The hissing hum is from the A2-highway 4 km away. When the snow is fresh the hum should be more damped.
Remarkable is the volume of the highway humming caused by the wind direction during the recording. When you start making ambient field-recordings this is important to know. Sometime you can hear the highway on 6-8 km in this flat land, depending on, barometric pressure, humidity, wind direction and speed.
Rode NT4 in Rode blimp > Sony PCM D50. Equalizing with Audacity.
recorded; between hamlet Bokhoven and River Maas in Holland (the Netherlands), January 2013 1pm
