Well, I got my gear set up: 2 Sennheiser ME 64/K6 microphones, the beachtek DXA-10 preamplifier, a Sony Dat recorder TCD-D8 with the SBM
device, to record those swallows being fed by their parents in the nest
and what did I got: only a little bit of that, but mostly cars and a
propeller driven plane passing by, all that in rural Scotland in July
2007.

Yes it's amazing how much man-made noise there is in the world. You can be in the middle of a desert 1000 km from the nearest man-made thing recording some rare animal...and a plane flies overhead :)

whoa, lots of detail, is that the feet of the birds at the nest what I hear? Your description sounds dissapointed, but you shouldn't be. These are very difficult sources!
