Recorded at first light from the trailhead into Ferd's Bog, Hamilton Co. in the Adirondack Park, NY. The musical song of a Winter Wren, along with the territorial drumming of a Pileated Woodpecker. There is also an Ovenbird and Am. Robin in the dawn mix. About an hour later, I was lucky enough to see both species of boreal woodpecker down in the bog. Unfortunately I did not bring the dish to record the drumming Black-backed Woodpecker ( dang !) My scope, tripod, camera and backpack were all I really could carry. The equipment I used was a Sony MZ-NF810 minidisc recorder, with an 18" parabolic dish with homemade components housing Radio Shack mic elements.
