Kampitam is one of the several gamakas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamaka_%28music%29) in Carnatic music. In this recording, done at IIT Madras in India, the artist performs the Kampitam gamaka several times in a raaga called Kalyani.
Kampitam literally means a shake. It is similar to Vibrato in western music, but the shake is of different kinds, which ranges from a small vibrato to touching the next note.
