Young pigs' slaughter. WARNING: this particular sample is very moving, at least for me. It begins with a cry and slowly fades out as the poor creature dies. Recorded in a country house's open yard near Cabra, S Spain. Sennheiser ME66 + MKH30, Shure FP24 preamp, Edirol R09 recorder. It was very hard for me to record this so I hope it's any use.
EDIT: I feel the need to clarify. This is the traditional way of killing the pig in Spanish (and many other countries) rural environment. It is based on bleeding (severance of the major blood vessels), which is not the norm in industrial slaughter houses nowadays (where stunning is applied previously to reduce suffering). I uploaded this to document a traditional practice - very cruel in my opinion - , for the sake of anthropological interest if you wish. Listeners can extract her/his own ethic/moral implications.

I think this confirms you can just about find anything on the net.
Animal rights campaigners could use this sound blaring from a loud speaker when they have their demos.

I'm horrified to hear this here. But I respect that you are doing this for the cause, I couldn't, and by that I am saying well done.
Very hard to deal but its not like it happens only when people are recording it.

My uncle (a minister) and I talked about how animals used to be sacrificed, and how - in the opinion of many Christians - our spirituality has evolved now that we don't sacrifice animals for the sake of God. He asserts that we have lost something in that loss of witnessing sacrifice - what we have lost is an appreciation for the horror of death an animal experiences when we slaughter it so that we may eat. Thanks for reacquainting us, dode. I alternate between vegetarianism and carnivorism. I prefer vegetarianism because I know how much I love my pets, and I know there's no difference between my little Jenny-cat and the pig that is dying in this clip.
