This was recorded at a wildlife refuge in the Columbia River gorge in Washington State, on a breezy, hot Sunday afternoon in mid-September. I hung my "fake head" binaural setup from a small tree next to a pond, at the edge of a grove of trees (see photo).
The location is in a deep river gorge, which has highways and railways on both sides of the river. One rail line is about 1/4 mile north of me, and a highway is about 1/4 mile north of the rail line.
When I was bringing in my recording gear I encountered a small herd of elk, who ran off into the woods when they saw me. But later they returned to the area, and you can hear them in the recording.
In the recording you hear the constant rustling of leaves, distant highway traffic (including numerous loud motorcycles), trains passing nearby, airplanes overhead, and various wildlife including kingfisher, Canada goose, frog, western scrub jay, great blue heron, and roosevelt elk.
If you want a particular segment in WAV format, let me know. The complete WAV is 1.2GB which is too big to upload.
Recording chain: Sound Professionals SP-BMC-1 binaural mics on my "fake head", into Sony PCMM10 recorder. No editing other than fade in/out.

Great recording...the elk bugling was a special treat to hear. Light breeze, planes flying overhead, distant train horns. Great stuff... :thumb up:
