Just what I was looking for. I search sitar and the first page is all over processed and horrible sounding sitars. I just wanted a clean sitar string sound, and that is what I got, so thank you.
very nice recording, i love the stereo mic. more always welcome, particularly longer because it takes a bit of fiddling to make this loop, and hope the listener doesnt notice the repeat :)
thanks !

Thanks for your beautiful contributions, cajo! My wife and I used this clip as a "world ambience" (among others) in our free-to-download, non-commercial cover of Pink Floyd's "On the Turning Away": Listen to it here, the Farsi voice can be heard around 3:30 or so: http://themajestichigh.bandcamp.com/track/on-the-turning-away-pink-floyd and please feel free to download the track as well: http://www.mediafire.com/?n6yqcjy2zrdnqbe
