Sound memories of mr. Alfons Canovas, age 95, probably the most outstanding living memory of Barceloneta. In this 4-parts interview (3 long, 1 short), he explains, with colorful anecdotes, onomatopoeias and details, the sounds of ancient Barceloneta.
In the first part of interview he tells about the sounds of bells, security guards (vigilantes and serenos), train, tram, horses, the gas factory and a peculiar kind of piano.
In the second part he tells about the sound of the barrio's ancient arts and crafts, including calls of vendors as well as details about Carmen Amaya, the CNAB swimming club (of which he is Honorary President) and the many theaters which used to exist Barceloneta and where he used to play as an actor thanks to his extraordinary memory.
In the third part of the interview he tells about the war sounds of guns and cannons.
The sound mr. Canovas misses the most and considers as the most representative of Old Barceloneta is described in part four.
