A loopable recording of the bells of St Andrews Church, Alfriston, Sussex. MS907 - MZ-N10 - iRiver 10-Sept-2006. This church is known as "The Cathedral Of The Downs" - the South Downs being a range of hills that run through Sussex. http://www.alfriston-churches.co.uk/

I hope I can use this in the forthcoming 'Churches of the British Isles' section of the History Files (www.historyfiles.co.uk), which launches on 3 May 2009.

Captures the realistically the feeling of being in front of the church. I like the sound of the birds in the intro.

This sample was grabbed in a bit of a hurry. Now I know when the bells ring, I shall return for some more attempts without the wind and birds (I hope)!
