I'm indie electronica producer from Finland. I also play lot of other instruments than synths; electric guitar, bass etc. I feel copyright laws are being abused severely by big corporations and sample trolls. They no longer serve the good of an artist; quite the contrary. I know bands that cannot make higly wanted re-releases of their older, sold-out releases, which they have composed and recorded THEMSELF because their ex-label holds the rights. I watch with fear and disgust as ACTA is being prepared, distorting copyright laws beyond comprehension. So what can I do? For starters I can advocate Creative Commons and contribute to it by releasing free samples and quality music. I want to do this, because I am not into this for money. I love music and I want to retain my artistic freedom. And I encourage anyone feeling this way doing the same!
