My latest field recording of rain and thunder is the first to be presented in audiophile 96 kHz / 24 bit sound quality. This is not one straight-through take, but actually small segments of different storms edited together. I edited the recordings in Kristal Audio Engine, filling all 16 channels with different layers of sound and designing the short clip to have a defined beginning, middle, and end ( the end is signaled when the loud rain gives way to the simple splash of water shooting down from a gutter). These recordings were mostly made with my handheld Tascam DR 07, a few takes of rain were also made with a Crown SASS Stereo Mic.
