My brother is a car racer, I was at the pit lane at the Nuerburgring in Germany and picked up this sound. The high frequency sounds more far away are Formular Renault cars on the grand prix track. I was located at the "Nordschleife" or "North loop".

Nuerburgring is too far for me to visit, but I can drive the Nordschleife on the PlayStation at home. I choose my Honda Civic and it takes more than 20 minutes(!) to go only one lap.
Anyway, it describes the atmosphere of the racing track well.
