This sample was created in Ableton Live 7 using a modified preset from the built in Tension instrument which emulates an acoustic guitar. The computer keyboard was used to play a riff sequence. The audio was fed into the following processing chain:1) Voxengo Boogex VST amp and cab simulator with the cab emulation switched off and a fair amount of overdrive.2) Signal as split with one portion fed to an EQ to cut frequencies below about 600Hz. The other half of the signal fed through another EQ cutting above 600Hz and then into another Voxengo Boogex VST with overdrive and cab emulation switched off and some reduction to treble.3) split signal combined again and fed to a final Voxengo Boogex VST. This time I only wanted the cab (speaker) emulation so Overdrive was set to 0.4) A little bit of reverb added.I found this signal processing chain quite flexible, as the EQ between the first (overdriven) amp VST and the speaker emulation really allowed to shape the tone. The second amp, also overdriven, was fed only the lower frequencies from the signal and added a different set of high harmonics producing a very pleasing sound. A little treble trim on this amp's built in EQ allowed or a warmer and less aggressive tone.
