khanflomah, in case you are watching this. I find your comment prejudiced and rather rude.
On what research have you based your comment that users "never knew how to use Reason anyhow" or calling these people "low end users"?
Reason offers high quality instruments and effects from the go and you could buy more as Rack Extensions - that does not mean that there aren't other VST synths and effects that do different things and that you would like to use. Even if you could buy a Racj Extension that did the same, you would basically be buying the same tool twice.
Many people use more than one DAW, and most of the people who do this know about Rewire, which allows 'linking' DAWs (Not just Reason into Live, but for example Live into Reaper).
In addition to sucking more CPU because you are effectively running 2 DAW engines, and forcing you to have tracks split over 2 DAWs... that method has considerable limitations.
Now the limitations are gone. You can have a signal chain that is Reason instrument -> VST -> Rack extension -> Reason effect -> VST... Whatever you want, in any order. You can also use VSTs as send effects (e.g. use your favourite reverb).
As always, Properllerhead have gone one step further and are ahead of everyone else -> their rack 'wrapper' gives you a number of CV inputs at the back, so you can do things with VSTs that are not even possible in other DAWs that have supported VSTs for ages - You can use Reason's sequencers, envelops and LFOs to control most parameters on VSTs.
So who is the low end user?

Any reason user that is going nuts over the inclusion of VST's never knew how to use Reason anyhow. All the vst's they are clutching to, ALREADY were offered for free in Reason for the most part..but those low end users dont know what the heck they are doing.
