Sounds posted in response to a Dare-37
http://www.freesound.org/forum/dare-the-community/37738/
Created using only sounds from this pack:
http://freesound.org/people/kwahmah_02/packs/15696/
The original sounds were first transformed before being assembled into loops.
The transformation was done in Ableton 8. The starting point was often stretching ('warping') and/or pitching the original sounds. These sounds where then further modified using 2 VST effects: KTGranulator and/or Fragmental.
Both involve granular effects (although Fragmental is a modular multi-effect).
Note: I find Fragmental quite unstable in Ableton Live 8. I would not recommend using it in a project BUT for sound design is actually useable.
Another tool used insome cases was XFadeLooperCM. This is a VST instrument that loads a sample and then allows the user to play with loop start and end points, in addition to envelopes, filters and other parameters.
In all cases, the resulting sounds where edited in Audacity before being reloaded into another Ableton Live project where the loops were assembled.
To assemble the loops, the sounds were again stretched and pitched, as required. Any effects used in the creation of the loop are indicated in each file, along with any special notes and the links to the original sounds used.
