    If

What started out as a sample of my Dads Euphonium note turned into a harmony part, plus my keyboards turned into a tune and a melody, which then turned into an full instrumental track, which I then turned into a song and rap based on Rudyard Kipling's poem 'if', which finally turned into a mad video with my head exploding featuring lots and lots of freesound sound fx!

I put so much work and thought into this project and several people have clicked dislike . Very frustrating.

Hi, im sorry that you feel frustrated. I'm going to speak my mind on this because i think it may benefit you.

I watched the video, although I can definately see the hard work you put in, I can also see why people would dislike it. It reminds me of the pet shop boys; hideously cheesy.

I think the components were well though out, however the execution was lacking in finesse.

Perhaps you should work on the quality more and then post a different version, see the response then.

    Good luck smile

Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and giving helpful feedback. Friends have said to me my singing sounds like the petshop boys too. That did not bother me as I have quite a lot of respect for the petshop boys music - even though that is probably rather sad! I guess they are hideously cheesy to many - so that might explain the dislikes as you suggest.

When the video was first uploaded I had an email from motion tools congratulating me on the use of their background clips and asking if it was OK to put a link on their website. So I was chuffed about that - until the dislikes started coming in!

As for finesse - I'm sure your are right. I am not a professional video photographer, just a part time musician who has a lot of fun doing home made videos to promote his music on a tight budget. I'll have to give this more thought though.

    Cheers, Nigel

No problem buddy. You just keep pushing on.

I am a music producer myself, I quickly learned a valuable lesson:

Some people will love your work, some will hate it and others will just think it's average. This has to be accepted, considering that the evaluation is subjective. Just ignore the trolls and embrace the acclamation, however imbalanced.

    Im glad I could help

p.s. for the record, im quite fond of the pet shop boys wink

I'll have to frame that statement and put it on my wall:

"Some people will love your work, some will hate it and others will just think it's average. This has to be accepted, considering that the evaluation is subjective. Just ignore the trolls and embrace the acclamation, however imbalanced."

    Brillaint!

Thanks for your help and I hope your music producing continues to flourish smile
