If your going for a really good sound effect its going to take some work with a combination of a number sounds lol. What kind of crash.. something simple like on a cartoon or more elaborate? About how long of a clip or what kind of details would a viewer see when hearing the crash?

It will be used in a cinematic. Ship will move towards rocks and crash. It should sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y645qLlW884 at 5:40 but a little longer and louder. And i just noticed that you have a nice thunder lightning sound that fits the scene
Cool thanks for checking out my sounds! Yes I have recorded a LOT of thunderstorms and rain over the years. Will listen to the SFX in the vid.
Breezeark - I think Ferti was posting that as an example. Ripping a sound is never a good idea!
I've had a play about breaking some branches and mixing the sounds.
Let me know if these are OK

Whenever you want to make a sound, you have to think of what you need
For ship breaking sound, it does depend how large the ship is, the smaller it is the eassier it is to create ofcourse
first you want a deep banging noise for the colliding (the more bassy it is, the larger the ship is)
you don't want a computer generated noise for this, try punching your wall or door then turn down the pitch and add bass
for the cracking itself, you probably want to use tree branches as suggested by Jagadamba, if the quality is good enough for you in those sounds, you can use it but I personally would prefer higher quality sounds, theres a nice sound on Freesound of breaking a door open you could use as well https://www.freesound.org/people/qubodup/sounds/160213/ just edit it to your liking
try adding some dirt debris falling sounds in the background, and if your ship has any metal on it, it would be good idea to add some metal impact sounds as well,

These will definitely help in scene/cutscene. But it might not fit the collision moment because they are underwater. Anyways thank you so much for these awesome sound effects.
Edit: Tell me how you want to be called in credits. Like Jagadamba or your real name ?

hello, I attempted to make it for you http://www.freesound.org/people/Kodack/sounds/257752/ (still awaiting moderation) tell me what you think
it sounds pretty close to what is heard in the video, if you want it to be longer you can just set the speed, shouldnt be too hard to figure out, if you want the sound sooner (since moderation may take a while) tell me and I can give you the audio file another way

Hi ferti12, Jagadamba is good for credit
I've just spent time cutting some firewood, so I took the chance to record it and also had a bit of fun throwing a few logs of wood around in my woodshed. I'll put them up soon, but a bit busy to edit them until later. Kodack seems to have had some success with a more sudden crash sound, so maybe he can play around with these new samples and come up with a better mix.
I will also have a go when I get the chance
Namaste
