I have always been led to believe that British football fans make up rather complex cheers and songs at matches, and sing these in unison from the stands. (About five years ago I recall reading that this activity, once totally informal, has been increasingly co-opted by advertisers who participate deliberately in the creation of the cheers)
Is there a compilation somewhere of cheers like this? Anybody here have recordings to share? I have already searched at archive.org and found nothing - I started my search there because they have many arcane compilations like this including the numbers stations, etc.
It is almost inevitable that I close this request by saying,
cheers,

I am also looking for chants, and possibly there could be compilations somewhere, but there could be problems with copyright and so on.
many new chants are based on popular hits, such as White Stripes. So the melody is owned by someone, but when the fan clubs take it and perform it, sometimes with their own new lyrics to it, I hope and guess that it is public domain???
