1800s acoustic American folk music needed

I'm producing a piece about the travels of John James Audubon in the early 1800s Illinois territory and am looking for appropriate period piece music...the genre that comes to mind is 1800s American folk music, slow fiddle, maybe with mandolin or banjo?? vaguely similar to that used on the soundtrack of Ken Burns 'Civil War'...

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the posts and, Timbre, thanks for the link. I do like the samples from that
Texas musician's website, BUT, I think you are probably right in that I'd have to pay him...this gives me a lot to work with though.
