Alternatives to the "record scratch" sound effect?

You know in comedy-style movies and commercials when something funny and unpredicted happens, and to accent it the background music is abruptly stopped with the "record scratch" sound effect? I'm looking for an alternative sound effect that basically achieves the same purpose. Nothing against the record scratch, it's just a bit overused and I'd like to try something new.

Anyone know any other ways to do it that aren't being used a lot?

There's the "slip", the "spring", and "the crash" that immediately come to mind and the possible combinations of these.
