What type of file is the sound you downloaded? Flac, Mp3, wav? It may be that movie maker can not recognize certain file types. Mp3's will work in movie maker but I'm not sure if flac or aiff types would.

You can also convert sound files if you need to this program is a great freeware program I have used for a while, it has all kinds of stuff in it, video converters, audio converters and more and no adware or crap like that. DVDVideoSoft Free Studio.

    Good luck.

Wrong directin, it is far simplier.

When you ask MM, or many other even high end audio, and/r video programs to 'OPEN' a file, VERY often they either won't, see it: i.e. you know file xy is sitting is 'z' folder. When the program looks into the folder, it looks empty. Or, you ask it to open an mp3 or wav. and no sound. When yu ask it to 'open,' It is looking for native files.

Simply go to the file menu, or open menu, or edit; Look for 'IMPORT' or 'IMPORT FILE.'

    That should do it.

    Good luck.
