It's not really your achievement. tongue I have experimented with/learned about synthesizers etc for quite a while already. quite a bit of knowledge to work on.
Still sampling is an interesting field, i actually got on freesound this tuesday to see if i find an interesting sound to use for sampling. then i saw the dare grin

and i still play metal in a band anyways.

You will notice a synth in the beginning of our medley wink

Nor am I claiming credit for it grin
Like the other guitarist I managed to get onto the Freesound dares, and other musical collaborations and mis-adventures (eh eh eh),... he had a previous interest and involvement with synthesizers and drum machines.

I guess you have the best of both worlds - you play an instrument (I don't).
There are (usually, but not necessarily) very different aspects and techniques used when working with actual instruments or sampled sounds.
A synth is somewhere in between...LOL... it is originally a "cold" instrument, and then players come up with all sorts of programming and setup techniques to make it "responsive", so it takes up "dynamic" and "emotional" characteristics when played.

I am not by a moment suggesting you should abandon guitar playing or metal grin
But maybe some techniques can be ported between the two worlds.
Also, some of the best music I have ever heard makes use of both electric guitars and electronic music techniques and effects. --- Look up the group Celldweller...

Anyway... there may come a time for a dare where guitars have a part...

    hmmmm..... erm..... I forgot...

Yes tree nwe kids on the blok yippy....

    Ultranova105
Its dance and pary time at you composition. It was realy fun to hear.
My grandson started to dance directly when I started the tune. And than there is nothing more to say..

    tarrei

The humoristic start is great. You think than that it becomes dark, but the humor is back in a minute... and it swings, my grandson was gone, sorry... But I love it..

    ericksommers
More natural and beuatifull with feeling.... slowstarter, but when you start the beat it becomes dance-able. I beautiful number with tension......

For all of you; I put all the contribution on one page of our klankbeeld-team blog
    http://klankbeeld-freesound.blogspot.com/search/label/freesound%20DARE

    edit:

The new one (I can not copy to my blog ;-( is from user:
    toiletrolltube

Spooky from the beginning. Sounds realy great, the e-sound became very long and gives the eerie atmos. Well done.

    Lets wait for the next.

(sorry I posted this comment at the wrong place before ;-(

    Dear Freesounders

The question has been asked and i am sure it will be asked many more times:
"are dares limited to musical compositions?"
We take a very broad approach to music, so you shouldn't worry too much if your piece does not sound very musical in the normal sense of the word. Just make sure you adhere to the specific rules for that dare in relation to what samples you can and can't use.

    The future...
I will at some point issue dares that are aimed at non-musical entries.
I am also considering some dares where i ask you to record sounds - need to be carefull here, as not everyone has access to recording equipment and i do not want to restrict people from entering.

Of course, you are always welcome to suggest something you would like to see in a dare - send me a PM!

Thanks very much for the compliment! Yours is very atmospheric, it's pretty easy to recognize that spiritual idea in it, it takes you somewhere.

Been a little too busy to write the last days, but i'm amazed of how skilled people are at this. The bar has certainly been raised a couple of notches grin

The beginning is very logical with that beautiful flute. After this start it becomes a dark film with a lot of tension. The helicopter with the heavy drone makes it complete. Beautiful.

    thanks

    who is next??

Yes, it cought me. I like doing something new and learn a little from it, at the same time smile

This mixing business is very new to me, and i'm just getting to know the tools a little, by now. But it's fun!

Thank you once again for a great challenge smile

    You are welcome!
To be honest, i had initially planned a different challenge for december, but another freesounder suggested using 10 random samples and i thought it was a great opportunity to use an idea from someone else. I just adapted it to use the sample of the day and the general dare rules and format.

Using the samples of the day was in fact something that had occurred to me before. We will probably do it again in the future, as you never know what you are going to get. In fact, i am as much in the dark as the rest of you!

I think we will do it again at some point.

I'm looking forward to hear your version of this dare smile

I think you've made a nice dare, just in the spirit of freesound. Recording sound is fun, but you never know what you end up recording, just like getting ten random sounds.

I have listenned to it and is a great piece, though!

Please clarify if this is a second piece that you intend to submit for the dare.

The latest one really has intricate jazzy rhythms & grooves and the timing of the way the sounds go fit it all too in a more subtle manner, this must require a great overview making it. And a kind of suspense or drive, that is even increased with seemingly the greatest ease when the curve gets more hairy in the last part. I only started looking at the time very late, and was surprised that it'd been playing for almost 3 minutes, which is a good thing as well. Sounds are manipulated in ways that are beyond my own imagination, and the flute sounds like a real fence again. I think I can just follow from the consumer's point of view, but for me trying to make a song like this is a different story, that would be a long shot! I couldn't resist having a listen at other compositions too, some of it reminds me of Pink Floyd, a song called Furry Animals in a cave grooving with a Pict, and perhaps some Einstürzende Neubauten, if I have to compare at all. It doesn't really sound commercial but that seems to be clearly intended so, and for sure original, artistic and off the wall.

I have downloaded all entries so far and listened to them.
Normally I only post my comments after the time for submissions closes.
I believe most people will be doing the same. So you just need to wait one more day! smile

    schluppipuppie,

I like your contribution very much. It sounds digital and spooky. Nice deep base-sounds.
And I like it that you did a dare as well. I see that the real musitions are coming into the dare and that is great.
